In Hyperartefakte forms of clay, styrofoam and paper are reconstructed, cast, photographed, and scanned in 3D. The final exaggerated, idealized, reinterpreted forms imitate digital materiality, gestures and objects. Shifting between clay and source codes, DIY and machine management, Xaver Gschnitzer creates an hyper-nature in which the linear work process is suspended and new forms and artefacts arise.

Xaver Gschnitzer (South Tyrol) is an artist based in Vienna. His installations deal with the imaginary and the illusionary, the relation between media and materials, object and ideas.

He graduated at the

department of Transmedial Art, led by Brigitte Kowanz, of the University of

Applied Arts in Vienna.
